After reading and participating in the activities located within the book Strengths Finder 2.0 I have been able to single out three of my top strengths and applied them to my work experience and how they make me an asset in any work field. My top three strengths are; individualization, achiever, and competition. People who have talent in individualization are able to find the unique qualities within each person and have a great quality for figuring out how different people can work together productively. In the sales portion of my job, it is very important that I recognize the uniqueness of every account and most importantly the unique qualities of every account representative which usually are reflected in their businesses. I have displayed this skill countless times in the field by being able to market the product I represent to a diverse spectrum of accounts, and recognizing the best ways to apply the benefits of my product to the diverse personalities and vision of the account representatives I work with.
The achiever strength applies to people that have great stamina and a hard work ethic, they take pleasure in being productive and busy. I would consider this strength en grained within my personality from day one. I need to be constantly busy because you cannot improve yourself, or anything for that matter, while being idle. An example of my achieving ability is the duration of my junior and senior years in college. While maintaining a full course load and an exceptional GPA I was working two part time jobs accumulating a minimum of 45 hours of work per week. Not only was I working a considerably large amount of hours and being consumed by school work, but I excelled in every aspect of both jobs and school. When my work and school obligations were taken care of I still kept busy by being very physically active within the gym and athletics.
Finally, my third strength is competition which are typically people who measure their progress against others and strive to win or be the best in every aspect. This strength describes me perfectly as I've always been active in competitive athletics. A professional example displaying my competitive drive is when I, along with all the other sales representatives of my brand, were given ad incentive to increase sales by way of signing new accounts. We had a month long sales drive in which I beat out all of my peers by signing six accounts, an average of 1.5 a week. The next closest competitor had 4 accounts. To better pronounce my competitive drive, I aimed to beat out everyone even though I was the only part time employee, working half the hours of all of my peers.
Overall I would say the strengths finder was very accurate in naming the qualities that are most pronounced in my personality and I have clearly displayed all of these strengths in a professional environment with concrete results. These strengths would make me an asset to any company, brand, or institution that would allow me to exercise them.

You are already successful in your own right. You are carrying a full course load while working two jobs -that’s a very demanding schedule. This requires discipline and a great work ethic. You are successfully doing that. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThe best way to find a job is to connect with people in the industry or company that you’re interested in working for. Find out what advice they have for you. Also, meet people through industry associations and volunteer on a relevant committee.
You’re already leveraging social media and you “get” marketing. Way to go!
